Motherhood

A few of you may have already seen this photograph of my charming son. I am entering it in a Mother's Day photo contest over at 5 Minutes for Mom. They are asking that you submit an image that defines motherhood.
For me, motherhood is about finding humor during the strangest or most stressful moments. Last year, I was tending to a sick, 10-month-old Lois when 2-year-old Jason snuck into the bathroom. I didn't realize where he had gone until I heard splashing. Followed by giggling.
Alas, my fears were confirmed and my half-nude son was found not only playing with the toilet but actually inside the toilet! Oh, and he was also attempting to flush himself. Naturally, I pushed my OCD aside for a moment and grabbed the camera.
People have asked me if I purposely placed my son in the toilet to take a funny picture. To that, I say... ick.

Look at it this way: you're garnering up tons of blackmail material to use over the next couple of years!

That is the most awesome example of the strange trip that parenthood is.

LOL, thanks. They are going to narrow it down to 15 finalists and then start a public vote. There are a lot of entries, though, so I don't know if I'll make the cut.

This photo made me howl out loud!! I am a germ freak - BUT I think I would have grabbed my camera too!
CONGRATS! You DESERVE to win with the dedication to grabbing the camera NOT the kid. LOL

Thank you so much for putting me in the finals, Janice! I must have looked at 100+ entries and they were all so great.

Classic. I'm with you - would have grabbed the camera before the kid.

rofl! that is awesome! i think i would have been so beside myself, i would have probably forgotten the camera, then later wished for the VIDEO camera!
definitely good blackmail fodder!
my son once told me he pooped a "7". i said, "cool". then he asked what would i do if he pooped a "13". i said, "i'd TAKE A PICTURE!" ---> which was hilarious to a 6 year old boy!!!
