Here Come The 123s

PhotobucketThey Might Be Giants are releasing their newest children's album next week, entitled "Here Come the 123s." I just thought I'd let everyone know, as geek parents should definitely have a complete They Might Be Giants catalog! This is a really fun way to teach your little ones about numbers.

Playhouse Disney has been showing previews from "Here Come the 123s" recently and we are all loving it. (I'm gonna make my husband a TMBG fan if it kills me!) In fact, I just preordered the CD/DVD combo from Amazon, which features some bonus stuff.

It's on sale here if you're interested!

The CD/DVD comes out on Tuesday, which just happens to be Lois Lane's first birthday. She claps and rocks whenever she hears one of the songs on Disney Channel and it's so adorable.

Here are two of their new videos, "High Five" and "Apartment 4":

How can your husband not be a TMBG fan?? Has he never heard them before? Maybe he has some type of aural damage?

We are huge "They Might Be Giants" fans around here. The kids go around singing all versions of "The Sun is a Mass", over and over and over. Of course it helps that hubby has been a fan since their first album and indoctrinated me when we were dating.

I heard about this album and enjoyed watching "Never">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m3Kgj6EiZtw">Never Go To Work"! I don't have any kids yet, but found this song as enjoyable as other TMBG albums!

I wasn't talking about the podcast, I was just recommending the 123s album/DVD that is being released on Tuesday (which the above videos are a part of). They say podcast 50 millions times in the videos, of course we all realize they are from a podcast!

    And my kids LOVE it.

They're doing a regular kids podcast every friday and I read that they are starting an adult podcast soon.

We use Miro on our media center to play it on the tv. My kids know almost all these songs by heart.

(I also apologize for the snooty tone of the previous post)

When I was in college, I used "Istanbul (Not Constantinople)" on my answering machine followed by my voice saying, "you've reached Istanbul. We are no longer Constantinople, so if you leave your name and number..."

I've I made certain that, even though They Might Be Giants is marketed toward children now, that my kids have been exposed to the classic stuff. My kids love it. In fact, I caught the youngest singing Particle Man when she was three.

I love that these guys are still producing new stuff. Thanks for the heads up!

Our kids used to constantly (read over and over again ad infinitum) demand us to play TMBG's version of "Istanbul" whenever we drove anywhere. Thank Yoda it was a very good cover...and that it wasn't a Barney song.

Of course those days are over..all they want to hear now is The Hives singing "Fall is just something grown-ups invented" so they can scream-along with the chorus and pogo all over the living room.

    I love my punk-rock kids...

I remember taking a history exam in college that I didn't study for. Singing "James K. Polk" in my head helped me get through an essay portion of the test and pass.

    Thank you, Giants.
